Silt is the fine layer of sand that is left over from being in water.

Silt moves through water ways and when dropped, it is called something different, sediment

Silt helps in growing crops because Silt contains the nutrients that crops need to grow

Even though Silt is good for farming, everything has it's disadvantages.

When in water, silt is a villain, giving its victims a slow and painful death whereas on land it is an angel that all farmers worship.

Silt may be a vital source for agriculture ,but in the water,it is definitely not needed. This fine sand can divert courses of flow and change the way the body of water works.Silt can block drainage pipes if not controlled or handled properly.

Silt also blocks sunlight to low lying plants. When these thin sand particles merge together,a blanket is formed, blocking the sunlight to the plants directly under. As a consequence, the plants die.
